KG MOUNTAIN EXPEDITIONS is a locally owned company and operated by James Kagambi (KG) a professional mountain climber and an outdoor instructor with NOLS Africa who has summited 3 highest peaks in 3 continents. He has also represented Africa in the U.N PEACE CLIMB FOR THE WORLD on the Eiger in 1992. KG currently leads trips for NOLS in Chile and North America. (more)

6 DAYS SIRIMON - CHOGORIA OR CHOGORIA - SIRIMON / NAROMORU TRAVERSE
This program offers one of the best scenic route on Mt Kenya.It also offers
adequate acclimatization to hikers prior to summit. It s gradual.

Itinerary for 6 days Sirimon - Chogoria: - Ref.: KG SC 6
Day 1 - We transfer the hikers from Nairobi or their options to Sirimon park
Gate through the equator and Kikuyu farmlands. Start the 3hrs acclimatization hike to Judmeirs camp (3300mts) for overnight. You pass through the forest zone, which is rich in giant Bamboo’s, rosewood and part of heather zone.
Day 2 - Have an early break fast. Gradually hike to Shiptons camp (4200mts). This is a 6 to 7 hrs walk and you will be gaining an altitude of 700mts.You will pass through the moor land zone which includes tussock grass, lobelias and cabbage groundsel among others.
Day 3 - Acclimatization day. Hike through hausberg Col and overnight at Top Hut 4790Mts.This part is designed to allow the hiker to climb up and down so that by the following he/she will have been well acclimatized to summit.
Day 4 - Pre-dawn summit attempt of point Lenana (4985mts). You will start the day at 4.30am for the summit attempt, an ascent of 685 ms; The highlight being the watching of African sunrise and if its clear enough having a view of MT Kilimanjaro.Descend to Mintos hall area 4300mts and camp for overnight.
Day 5 - After breakfast descend to Chogoria park gate (3000mts). A descent of 1300mts through the Gorges Valley to Meru MT Kenya Bandas.Have dinner and overnight.
Day 6 - After breakfast descend the mountain through Chogoria forest to meet with the vehicle for transfer back to Nairobi or their option.
