KG MOUNTAIN EXPEDITIONS is a locally owned company and operated by James Kagambi (KG) a professional mountain climber and an outdoor instructor with NOLS Africa who has summited 3 highest peaks in 3 continents. He has also represented Africa in the U.N PEACE CLIMB FOR THE WORLD on the Eiger in 1992. KG currently leads trips for NOLS in Chile and North America. (more)

Educational Programs

We lead extended trips based on the former NOLS Africa expeditions for students of all ages.

Trips may focus on Maasai culture, Leave No Trace practices, Sailing programs, conservation issues and environmental programmes, services projects in East Africa game reserves and National Parks.

These trips are self tailored.

We have started looking for community projects that school groups raise money for, then they come and build schools, churches etc. These trips are popular so for more information e-mail us.

Below is a sample Educational trip itinerary.

Wilderness Short Courses in Kenya

Duration: 21 days

1. Lake Elementaita & Lake Nakuru in 2 days

Activities: Game Drive, Alkaline Lake Ecology and Kikuyu Cultural Trip

2. 8 days Hiking in the Nguruman Forest.

Activities: Hiking in the Nguruman Forest, Maasai Cultural visit and Forest Ecology.

3. 7 days in either Lamu Archipelago or Mountain Hiking

Activities:Snorkelling, Dhow Sailing, Conservation Visits and LNT.

Recommended dates: August/september, November/December, December/January.
